John Paul Jones Performs In Mexico

JPJ and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck together again!

You may remember that John Paul Jones arranged the strings on R.E.M.'s album ‘Automatic for the People’ album back in 1992.

Well you can now fast forward to 2014, as Jones made a surprise appearance at former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck's annual Todos Santos Music Festival in Mexico over the weekend.

So what was performed?  The Dream Syndicate's ‘John Coltrane Stereo Blues’ with Buck, on guitar, and Jones, on keyboards.  John Paul Jones also played mandolin with Drivin' n' Cryin' on their song ‘Straight to Hell.’

Both bands and the festival posted photos and videos of Jones on their Facebook pages.
