Gene Simmons receives patriotism award

Listen to KISS on iHeartRadio

Gene Simmons is getting recognized for his efforts in supporting U.S. troops.

The KISS bassist was honored last week with the Charles Durning Patriotism Award.  He received the award at a Disabled Veteran Business Alliance event in Hollywood on Thursday.

The honor is named for the late actor Charles Durning, who was also a decorated World War Two veteran.  After the ceremony Simmons tweeted photographs from the event along with a picture of his award, which he says he was "proud to receive."

Simmons has shown his support for members of the military in a number of ways, including giving veterans jobs.  He's actively sought to hire those who've been in the service at his Rock & Brews restaurants.
