Two men arrested for parking lot armed robbery

SEFFNER, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Hillsborough County deputies said they arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery.

Deputies said it all started the day after Christmas. The victim placed an ad on craigslist to sell his cell phone for $300, according to deputies, and he received a call from a man arranging to meet with him at the parking lot located at 750 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Seffner.

The next day, deputies said the victim, his wife and 12-year-old daughter went to the parking lot to sell the phone. Deputies said the victim then exited his car while his wife and daughter stayed inside.

Deputies said the victim then met with the suspect, who asked to inspect the phone. The suspect then pulled a semi-automatic handgun from his pocket and pointed at the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect then ran with the phone to an awaiting vehicle, deputies said, which was parked a distance away. The suspect vehicle fled south on Parsons Avenue and the victim attempted to chase after, but lost him, authorities said.
