TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - The man accused of raping a 70-year-old woman inside a Sulpher Springs church is now charged with trying to have her killed.
Hillsborough sheriff's investigators say 27-year-old Demetreius Morris sent hand written notes to a witness indicating he wanted a "hit" on the victim and her daughter before his May 8th court hearing.
Detectives say Morris was willing to pay that person with his Social Security money.
Last October, during a weekday, Tampa police say Morris approached a woman while she was inside the Living Word Fellowship church on N. 13th Street, then attacked her.
Police tracked down Morris after a DNA match linked him to the crime.
