St. Pete council approves 'Trop' improvements

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) -- With all the speculation about where the Rays will be in the future, the team wants to change things inside Tropicana Field.

The Rays want to give Tropicana Field another face-lift.

The St. Petersburg City Council approved letting them dip into a city-controlled fund for $1.3 million Monday evening.

They’re proposing tearing out the Batter’s Eye Restaurant that overlooks the outfield and replace it with an open gathering area with food and walkways that would enable fans to move around the stadium without accessing the crowded concourse area.
