Pinellas officials look forward to new EOC facility next Summer
CLEARWATER, Fla. (970 WFLA) -- The end of the week marks a milestone for the Pinellas County Emergency Operations Center in Clearwater – a facility that was once the first of it’s kind and served as a model for others in the state of Florida.
“We’re going to be closing our last hurricane season in the emergency operations center that’s been a Pinellas County facility since 1986,” Pinellas County Public Information Specialist Tom Iovino said.
Iovino said they are excited to be in a new state-of-the-art center by the start of the 2014 hurricane season on June 1st.
The new center in Largo is a category five rated facility that will also house the sheriff's office and 9-1-1 center.
