New restrictions on voters absentee ballots

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (970 WFLA) -- New restrictions on how voters can return absentee ballots are ruffling feathers with supervisors of elections across the state.

There won’t be anymore remote drop off locations.

The ballots will have to be mailed or taken to an elections office.

Pinellas County Deputy Supervisor Julie Marcus says they are stunned the secretary of state would do this.

“We believe this isn’t going to serve the voters. This is a pretty anti-voter directive and it takes away voters options, once again.” Marcus said.

Marcus believes this will affect voter turnout for the special primary election in January to replace the late Representative Bill Young.
