TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - AirFest is returning to MacDill Air Force Base.
The two-day event, which attracts tens of thousands of people, has been scheduled for March 22nd and 23rd.
The headliner will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
There hasn't been an AirFest at MacDill since November of 2011. It was scheduled for this past April, then cancelled because of sequestration.
There's a new name this time--MacDill AFB Presents Tampa Bay AirFest. In a statement, 6th Air Mobility Wing Commander, Col. Scott DeThomas, says the name reflects the commitment of the entire region to organize this free event.
DeThomas also says that, because of current fiscal responsiblities, there'll be a new type of air show that will include more civilian demonstrations and static aircraft.
