TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A $6.5 million dollar taxiway bridge at Tampa International Airport that was built in 2010 is already having problems.
The bridge, which connects two taxiways, was supposed to last 75 years. But cracks have been discovered in its concrete.
The airport and contractor are assessing the scope of the cracks, how to fix it and who pays what.
The bridge is under warranty, so the airport says there's no dispute that the contractor--hubbard construction--will be responsible for the cost of repairs.
It also says the closure of this taxiway bridge doesn't impact flights, only pilots who used the bridge to keep runway traffic moving.
