RUSKIN, Fla. (970 WFLA) – The Hillsborough County Health department has issued a health advisory for Simmons Park Beach based on the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA.
Officials said this should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public.
According to a news release from the health department, samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria. The beach will be re-sampled, Monday, February 17, 2014.
Officials said when re-sampling indicates that the water is within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.
