TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - It’s a done deal. Tampa International Airport officials said the airport will embark on some big changes starting later this year.
“The board amended our budget so we would be able to spend 928 million dollars on some big huge projects happening here at the airport and this is going to be very big for the area. We’ve already talked a lot talked about the automated people mover that we’re building that’s going to be leading to the main terminal to a consolidated rental car center,” TIA Representative Emily Nipps said.
Ground-breaking is set for this Fall and is expected to be completed in three years.
The first phase of the airport expansion will also include renovations to the shuttle areas and main terminal.
